Romanoleli

Romanoleli

Romanoleli (Aversa, 1957) lives and works between Pescara and Naples. After a long period of introspection and research and the first acquisitions by private collections and auction houses, in 2017 he matured the decision to open up to public spaces. In 2022 his first solo exhibition Romanoleli | Esercizi di memoria, an exhibition hosted by the Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo in Pescara, followed by Ri-Velato, Armando Gioia and Romanoleli, a two-person exhibition hosted by F’Art – Spazio Arti Visive Contemporanee in L’Aquila (April/May 2023). The independent experience of in-depth study has allowed him to develop his own stratified and dynamic narrative structure, within which the multicentric link between sign, gesture, color is identified. In the works exhibited in this first phase, he moves from minimalism to a more stringent research on volumes, for a material and at the same time light rendering, combining fabric with crystal, and subsequently galvanized iron with nylon, obtaining iridescent and ultimately three-dimensional effects. From 6 December 2023 to 23 February 2024 Romanoleli arrives at the AAIE Center for Contemporary Art in Rome with his new solo exhibition Seconda Pelle, curated by Mariano Cipollini, which, enriched with new and unpublished works that exasperate this three-dimensionality, in which the matter is now outside the work, then arrives in Argenta (Fe) at the invitation of the Municipality and Capit Ravenna, in the Mercato Centro Culturale Arte Contemporanea in Argenta from 27 April to 2 June 2024. He experiments with an unprecedented installation by participating from 27 July to 31 August 2024 in the group exhibition Arte – Natura, during the 4th edition of the seminamo ARTE project in L’Aquila, in which the site-specific work is exhibited in a Botanical Garden. The sculptural system imposes itself on the landscape, almost creating a window that integrates with nature, and which at the same time emerges forcefully, carving out its own area by intercepting the light and colors on the mobile surface. Its aesthetics moves in a short time, across a wide and constantly changing range, passing from the variable tones that split the air with the nets, which he paints and treats to obtain lucidity and transparency, to the hard and sharp splendor of the metal that combines with opaque backgrounds, and with canvas skins carved and stretched until revealing the underlying layer.
